inside my birchbox, april 2012
There’s been a lot in the news lately about the dangers of nail polish. With the amount of polish and remover I use, it’s definitely something to keep in mind. While it’s almost impossible to go all natural or organic on your nails (I don’t think neon pink is readily found in nature), I do make an effort to use natural products as much as I can in the rest of my skincare and makeup routine.
I was jazzed to open my April Birchbox over the weekend and find it jam-packed with all-natural goodies.
1. Befine Daily Moisturizer and Gentle Cleanser with Sugar, Mint, Oats & Rice. I tried the moisturizer yesterday, and I was impressed with its consistency and non-greasy finish. I’ll have to try this a few more times to make sure it doesn’t break me out, but so far, so good!
2. Le Palais des Thes Tea Bags.
3. dirt. Luxe Salt Scrub – Lemon Leaf. I used this scrub on my hands last night – it really smoothed out the scraggly skin around my cuticles. The ingredients are very D.I.Y. – you’ll recognize everything on this label.
4. Vapour Organic Beauty Siren Lipstick in Ravish. This nice-sized lipstick goes on smoothly and is a bit sheer, which makes it very wearable, even in this dark shade. I think this is my favorite item in the box.
5. Amika Nourishing Hair Mask. I don’t usually use hair masks, so I’m curious to see if this makes a difference for my dry hair.
Such a good Birchbox this month! If you’re a subscriber, I’d love to hear what you got in yours.

You got such better stuff then me!! So jealous. It’s only my 3rd month and all my boxes sucked so far.
I got the Amika hair mask, Juice Beauty moisturizer, Wonderstruck, Zoya in Lotus and Dropps laundry detergent. I loved my box and can’t wait to try everything!
We got the exact same box!
I got the Befine stuff (still to be tried, but you know I adore their scrub), the Oile oil (used this morning – love, esp under the eyes), a great sized Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm (love), and the tea bags (loved) – a good month for my box! I am also continuing to adore the One Love Waterless Balm from last month – no breakouts from it, fingers crossed….
I got Yes to blueberries age refresh cleansing toweletttes — very nice scent, already picked some up at Target since they had free lip balm with it. Atelier Perfume — which has a lovely blood orange scent so I might buy it sometime. Weleda Firming Night Cream and Marula body/face oil — both of which I have tried but I’m not sure if they make any difference than my other stuff I use. And Zoya Nude nail polish — which I’m kind of disappointed in since it is a “nothing” color and I saw a few other people with very lovely colors that they got this month. Most of the nail polish colors I’ve gotten have not really been me (orange and bright red — I would love the mint green that I saw someone get!). Not a bad month all together but I would love to get more lipstick (have only gotten gloss in a color that’s not good with my complexion) and I saw that people other than you had gotten some as well.
All of these boxes sound great – good month, Birchbox!!
I received the same box as you, except for the lipstick I got the color Intuition. I didn’t find the color to be very sheer. It was quite rich on me, but I liked it. I’m excited to try the hair mask because I loved the hair oil by amika I received in a previous box. Didn’t the scrub smell wonderful? I can’t wait to try it. This was probably one of my more favored boxes.
The scrub does smell SO good. The scent lingers for a while, too. Love.
This was my first box and it seems crappy compared to others. I received a sample of the viva la juicy fragrance, a 5ml of kerastase elixir ultime, showstoppers fashion tape, jurlique night cream and Color Club turquoise nail polish
This is only the second Birchbox I received, but so far I have been very pleased. I had a decent sized sample of Pur sheer mineral tinted moisturizer which I have yet to try, a tiny bar of Erno Lazlo soap which doesn’t have much scent but feels very creamy when it lathers, the Atelier Cologne in the Orange scent, juice beauty oil free moisturizer and a wonderful body polishing cloth called a microdermamitt. The last was a full sized product that sells for $28.50 on the site. I love it – it has already done wonders for my knees and elbows. I don’t think I would have ever paid that much for it, but I am certainly in love with it after trying it out. It feels heavenly, and was not too harsh on my sensitive skin.
