on her nails: sara

February 10, 2012

Meet the wildly stylish, smart, and altogether quite brilliant Sara! In the face of an unusual or bold nail polish color, we always say, “Sara could wear this.” Because she is fierce.

Name: Sara

Where are we today? Bien Cuit. Large iced coffee, croissant – life is good.

What are you wearing? Dior #987 – Smoky Plum

Salon or do-it-yourself mani? DIY. I own so many bottles of nail polish and change them so often, it just doesn’t make sense to go somewhere. That being said, there’s nothing like a good pedicure done by someone else.

How did you choose this color? My friend Steph and I were running around the Guatemala City airport looking for nail polish before flying back to NYC. That woman truly has a sixth sense because of all the shelves in the airport, she headed straight to the one with the Dior nail polish. This particular box came with four other bottles. I usually gravitate towards darker colors, so she let me try this one first. I love it. It’s like a real, grown-up “lady” color.

Why do you wear nail polish? It started because it was the only way I wouldn’t bite my nails, but has since evolved (I now spend subway rides peeling off polish). I wear a lot of neutral-colored clothing, and it’s a nice way to insert pops of color (i.e., look less boring). I also gesture a lot with my hands when I talk, so I try and keep them looking nice(ish) with polished nails and big rings. Plus, there is a fabulous, hysterical, and very generous crew of nail polisher lovers at Mala Yoga, so it’s been a great way to get to know everyone better.

If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be? Black Pearl by Chanel.  It’s unlike anything. Or In a Trance by Cult Nails. Love that one, too. Or Come to Bed Red by Butter London. That’s my idea of a proper red. How about three? Let’s keep this civilized.

What’s on YOUR nails today? Yes, YOU! Let me know in the comments!

Thanks Anna! You’re so sweet, and it’s such a fun addition to the blog. Obsessed with the new Cult colors. They look amazing. And, yes, apparently the Dior lives up to the hype. Maybe one day we’ll finally get our hands on the Poison Blue…
