on her nails: nandini
I’m heading to Guatemala at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning, and I’ll be giving my nails a much-needed polish break while I’m there. Since my own nails are bare, this is the perfect time to begin the series “On Her Nails.” To start us off, meet the lovely and oh-so-stylish Nandini!
Name: Nandini
Where are we today? Ground Support in SoHo
What are you wearing? This is Essie Cocktail Bling from the Winter 2011 collection.
Salon or do-it-yourself mani? I go to a nail place in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
Why did you choose this color? I wanted to choose something winter-y but not dark, because usually when I think of winter colors I think of maroon or navy. I wanted a winter color, but on the lighter side. I like to get gel manicures because my nails chip so quickly since I’m not careful at all with them, but I feel like it’s ruining my nails when I take the gel off. So I chose a normal Essie polish this time.
Why do you wear nail polish? I don’t really do my own nails so whenever I wear nail polish I go and have it done. I like getting pampered every so often. It keeps your cuticles clean and it’s something small you can do for yourself. I used to play varsity-level soccer so I didn’t get my nails done at that point in my life because it would be pointless, but now, ever since I’ve had a stable income, I like to do it regularly.
If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be? I’d choose a red-ish, peach-ish guava. Or perhaps a Tiffany blue.
What’s on YOUR nails today? Yes, YOU! Let me know in the comments!

It’s a rare occasion, but my nails are also bare. I took off my polish yesterday in preparation to go to US Nails Supply (a nail polish mecca) but at the last minute I decided to be smart and call to see if they have the new Zoya collection I’ve been eyeing. Turns out they didn’t, so I guess I’ll be re-painting today. Maybe I’ll get some inspiration here:-)
